Just a quick experiment into making a repeat pattern. Something I’ve been meaning to try all summer. Now I’ve done it I’m gonna have to try making some more, or at least rework this one a bit.
I’ve been feeling in a real cycling mood these past few days thanks those darn Olympics. So I felt in honor of Team GB’s amazing Gold medal wins both on the road and the Velodrome I would finally finish a little cycling inspired editorial illustration I’ve been meaning to do all week.
So here is my mock editorial for a Dave Eggers’ review of ‘Just Ride’ from last weeks New York Times Sunday Book Review.
The book talks about the lack of need for fancy cycling gear, (especially when going for casual rides) and how no matter what kind of bike you have, cycling should just be fun.
Three of my favourite and finished spreads from my book about the life of Houdini.

The straight-jacket style binding of my Houdini book I made for my visual narrative project in Uni.
It is a still just a rough dummy book so the binding and straps aren’t as well made or sewn as I would have liked, but you get the idea…
